The Very Breath, 14x18", ©2010. KmBerggren ~ Message from the Artist: A scary thing happened this past summer while at the waterfront with my boys and our new friends. A scary half-moment that redirected my attention, my heart, my purpose, my priorities. A stab through my heart: fear, followed quickly by relief yet heavy sadness and regret and guilt. The world stood still for my boy and I as we fused; a mother willing to give the very breath in her body to prevent what may have happened. A boy, clinging to his mama, taking wet refuge – then torn to be his own boy self. All in front of a friend who now knew, quickly, too much about me.
