KmBerggren ~ Message from the Artist: Recently deeply inspired by the work of Kathe Kollwitz (as always) I came across an image of hers that I had never seen before, while flipping through a book. The image, a mother pressing a child to her face, instantly sold the book to me and a couple days later while playing with sculpey (clay) with my boys, I found myself sculpting my variation to this image. In my arrangement, the mother’s head is tipped back and the child is smaller, and sleeping. The mother is smiling, breathing in that fresh innocence and just being in the moment with the warm soft skin of her child.
