Message from the Artist:
This painting started as a sculpture – as no others have. The intensity to become realized, the demand of this painting to reveal itself to me kept us tethered longer than most. The process of working, reworking, asking, finessing, asking again, contemplating and realizing was like a saga, a love story, a relationship. I was determined that this painting would surface as one of my best to date, and this mother was certain I’d get it right eventually!

Toward the end, my urge to tighten the painting was relinquished to her urge to pull free and loose… all the while the baby waited, and actually grew with time.

Completing this painting was a satisfying birth of sorts.
