Message from the Artist:
I had this painting near completion, when on a whim, I painted out the companion child and started fresh with a lone woman.
One of the aspects I love best about being in my studio is the freedom to be spontaneous and do things just because, without a lot of rational thought! If something bugs me even just a bit, with one swipe of my brush it can be gone – sometimes I feel it’d be nice if I could take this ability outside my studio, my private domain, and many times I’ve wished there was an “undo” button when it comes to painting – but not this time!
This young woman had me consistently thinking of a friend I’ve known forever, a young, sassy-smart, gorgeous girl who played a big part during my growing up years – It’s been years, but I still love you, KJ.
